New footbridge celebrations! See us on KMTV!

We have received a lovely thank you note from Highways England, thanking us for our patience while work was ongoing to replace the Teapot Lane footbridge.  We also helped celebrate its opening on Monday 26 November!

Highways England Project Manager, Kaluba Kampandila, said:

"I would like to say a very big thank you to all the pupils, staff and parents for their patience while we replaced Teapot Lane Footbridge and for coming out to celebrate the new bridge this morning.

"You might like to know, that as pupils and staff at the schools on Teapot Lane, if you have been walking to and from school on the diversion route every school day between September and November, you have walked almost 60 extra miles.  That’s the equivalent of walking to the O2 Arena in Greenwich and back!

"The new bridge weighs 45 tonnes, which is the equivalent to more than 25 hippos! It also has a lifespan of 120 years – so it may still be here for pupil’s great great grandchildren!"

You can watch KMTV's news report on the new footbridge, and an interview with our Head Teacher, Vanessa Homewood, here!
