Harvest Festival

The festival of the harvest has been celebrated since Pagan times in Britain. Historically, thanks were given to God for a successful harvest.

In school, harvest festival is a time to think about those who are less fortunate than ourselves. At Valley Invicta Primary School at Aylesford we have been overwhelmed by donations of food over the last few days.

Reverend Ruth from Aylesford Church joined us at our Harvest Festival Assembly and we heard how more families than ever are finding themselves in need and reliant on food banks. All our donations have been delivered to the food bank in Aylesford today.

Reverend Ruth explained to the children what a huge difference their donations will make to those who find themselves unable to afford to buy food for themselves or their family.

Thank you to everybody who was able to send something into school for our Harvest table. It really does highlight what a warm and caring community we have here at Aylesford.
