In school we were so excited to hear about the communication Megan in Year 4 has had with the author Megan Hopkins who visited our school. Megan dressed up as one of the characters from Starminster and earned her Reading Champion badge linked to the National Year of Reading.

We were delighted to welcome members of the community in for our first soup social event. Locals enjoyed a bowl of piping hot soup, amazing cakes, with the company of some of our pupils, taking the time to look through some of their work. Everyone had a great time!

Willow Class had a wonderful World Book Day! We became authors and illustrators of our own stories. We read some of our favourite books with Year 4 and opened letters with Year 2 that they wrote when they were in Year 1. Of course, wore wonderful costumes based on a book.

World Book Day in Elder class!

For the last 10 minutes of the day, Elder class took their new World Book Day books outside to start reading!

Elder class had a lovely PE lesson in the sunshine this afternoon playing a version of Quidditch for World Book day/Week! It was great fun and the children played brilliantly. Just a shame we didn’t have flying broomsticks!

Wow! What an afternoon Year 6 have had sharing our writing with the residents at the RBLI. It was truly heartwarming to see the children so engrossed in stories from the residents and how proud they were to show their writing.

Year 4 have been busy in their art lessons producing work based on the techniques of the artist Daniel Mackie. They have been inspired by the natural world. Well done Year 4!

Our Safer Internet Day work has continued into the new term. KS1 have been creating an online safety plan whilst KS2 have been thinking about how to use AI safely.

Look away now if squeamish! This afternoon Year 6 learned all about our heart and even got to dissect a pig’s heart linking to our science topic and book in English.

In Week 6, Aylesford hosted a Performing Arts VIAT Masterclass for all the primaries. The children had an incredible time and, after warm up games, and developing their body language and facial expressions,  performed 'Naughty' (from the musical Matilda)!

We love to celebrate sport at VIPS Aylesford and this week has been no exception. Livvy in year 6 proudly represented our school when she played for the Tonbridge and Malling District under 11 girls team in a match against Crystal Palace. Keep following your dream!

We continue to follow the journey of Taylor in Year 3. Last weekend she took part in the All England Open Championships in the famous tower in Blackpool. Her ballroom and latin American dances earned her medals which she was proud to share in school.

For Safer Internet Day this week we enjoyed an assembly delivered by our digital leaders and completed   activities in classrooms. Our Yr 5 & 6 pupils took part in a Digital Detox and were challenged to stay off social media for 24 hours. Well done to those who managed!

Some of our Year 5 and 6 girls took part in a ‘This Girl Can’ event this week which aims to promote gender equality in sports and encourage girls to participate more. They had a brilliant time and represented the school perfectly - go on girls!

Year 4, Birch class have been busy sewing in their DT lessons. They have designed and made t-shirts for Bella, our reading bear. A wonderful link between DT and the National Year of Reading. Well done Year 4.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the strategic and operational provision for pupils with SEND and will work alongside school leaders as a member of the Senior Leadership Team. We are seeking someone who believes all children can be successful, and with the right support, can all achieve their best; this will include guiding teachers and support staff with modelling excellent practice and providing a knowledge-rich insight into the very best provision.
