PE and Sports Funding 2015-2016

The purpose of the funding is to provide additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles.

For the Academic Year 2015-16 the school’s allocation was £8,975 - calculated as £8,000 plus £5 for every pupil in Years 1 to 6 in the January 2015 Census.

For the current Academic Year, the school’s allocation is £9,015 - calculated as £8,000 plus £5 for every pupil in Years1 to 6 in the January 2016 Census.

In 2015 to 2016 the funding was spent on:

  • £2K contribution to the cost of a minibus to enable pupils on participate in sport with other school, and additionally using other sports facilities in the local community
  • £3K on after school sport coaching and clubs
  • £4K on resources to encourage sport participation during break and lunch times.

Similar expenditure is planned for 2016.17

Impact of Funding:

  • Increased participation in inter-school competitions
  • A planned approach towards participation in inter-school competitions with an annual calendar of events for all children,
  • Coaching raised skills and tactical awareness; thereby improving success in competitions and in sport in general across the school,
  • Increased pupil participation in physical activity during lunch times
